He who gathers during summer and takes advantage of his opportunities is a son who acts wisely, But he who sleeps during harvest and ignores the moment of opportunity is a son who acts shamefully.
Proverbs 10:5 AMP

Summer here talks about a season of harvest. Before that though, planting, watering and related farm + crop maintenance practices happen in between. Isn’t it interesting to even think if there is a possibility that someone who plants won’t be wise enough to harvest?

It is! That is why today’s scripture admonishes that it is wise to harvest in summer.

Similarly, where we’re praying and actively preparing for opportunities, they might sometimes come disguised in ways we didn’t envisage and might look like extra work. It’ll be wise for us to plough through though, and put in the work!

This could in practical terms, mean setting multiple reminders in the calendar, cold emailing beneficiaries of opportunities we’re considering in time and providing enough flexibility for them to respond at their time; taking advantage of summer breaks to upskill or intern.

Stay ready to harvest in summer; winter is coming 😁
