Welcome to June 2017! Happy New month ๐Ÿ™‚

Please take a moment to reflect on the past few months and THANK GOD for the year so far. Itโ€™s such an honour to see the sixth month of the year; 2017 seems to be going like a breeze! THANK GOD! If the year hasnโ€™t been great in your opinion, thank God that He helped you survive the โ€˜worstโ€™ and have faith that it would only get better in Jesus name, amen! Thanksgiving is a decision ๐Ÿ™‚

PneumaWordโ€™s hosting her second Bible Reading Challenge of the year: THE BOOK OF PSALMS IN A MONTH, with a focus on PRAYER! Most of the Psalms were written by David, a man whom God described as after His own heart (1 Sam 13:14; Acts 13:22). Weโ€™ll be learning how to be individuals after Godโ€™s heart through insights gained from reading and meditating on prayers/praying verses from five (5) Psalms a day.

I came across a Bible study method online some time ago called the SOAP method, which Iโ€™d encourage we employ for this challenge:

S โ€“ Scripture

O โ€“ Observation

A โ€“ Application

P โ€“ Prayer

So, weโ€™ll take a Scripture(s) that talks about prayer/praying from our daily reading (see image below for Scheduled readings), write down our observations, see how we can apply it to our lives and ask for Godโ€™s help. Iโ€™d encourage you to take out time to do these three times a day (shutting out distractions as mush as possible), as David did:

โ€œEvening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: he shall hear my voiceโ€ Psalms 55:17 KJV

You could mull over the same portion of Scripture the whole three times, or you could choose different Scriptures but from the same schedule of daily reading. Youโ€™d get much from Bible study if you first still your mind through prayer and worship for some time. This way, your spirit is a lot more sensitive to receive insights on Scripture from the Holy Spirit who inspired their writing (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1 20:21).

You could also set a reminder/alarm on your phone or device three times daily (that wouldnโ€™t interfere with your classes or work) so that when it rings, you along with the Holy Spiritโ€™s help, extract yet more from the Scripture previously read or a new one(s).

Hereโ€™s to growing deeper in prayer this month. Please share your observations by commenting below, using the hashtags or on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

God bless you ๐Ÿ™‚
