“And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it. For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits himself?” Luke 9:23-25 NASB
Jesus was speaking here, making it clear that the cost of discipleship – the cost of following Him entails a conscious decision on the part of the would-be follower to deny himself, be willing to daily die to whatever it is that’ll stop such from following Christ and to diligently follow Jesus. Have we accepted this challenge? If yes, have we been committed to following it through? If not, why not?
Let Us Pray: Father, thank You for Your Word that gives me my role description as a believer. Help me to daily come to Your throne of grace to receive the grace i need to deny myself, daily take up my cross and follow Jesus, right until the very end in Jesus name, amen.
God bless you 😊
