Making Disciples of All Nations

Word Snippets

Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts. Jeremiah 15:16 KJV

Ok, why the liking of the Word to food? Because the WORD OF GOD IS FOOD! Uh, you may say? YES, THE WORD OF GOD IS FOOD FOR THE HUMAN SPIRIT!

Just as human bodies need physical food to grow and function, so does the spirit of man need the Word of God to grow and function. The Holy Ghost reassures us through our spirits that we are children of God (Romans 8:9,16). Also, one of the ways God guides us is through our spirits (Proverbs 20:27). See the need to be in sound spiritual health? 🙂

This section of the blog, “WORD SNIPPETS”, is dedicated to helping YOU ‘snack’ on the Word. Unlike the longer teaching articles in other sections of the blog, this aims to help you take in bite-sized portions of the Word, for easier assimilation, whether you’re on the move, wanting to have a dip in the Word with only a few minutes to spare, or otherwise.

When food is ingested, it is taken through the body’s digestive system where it is broken down (e.g. corn broken down into glucose before it can release its energy content for use within the human body). Similarly, it is the Word of God that is read, studied, meditated upon and practiced that helps build our spiritual health, amongst several benefits (James 1:22-25; Joshua 1:8; 2 Timothy 3:16-17).

We encourage you to check posts on WORD SNIPPETS and the whole blog in general, however, NEVER FORGET TO DIG INTO THE WORD FOR YOURSELF! Even a physical baby outgrows milk and baby food to solids. There comes a time when such becomes an adult and has to fend for him/herself.
Likewise, a believer at new birth (when he or she becomes born again; John 3:3) is a spiritual baby and is required by God to grow to maturity. The number of years an individual has been a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ doesn’t automatically make him a mature Christian either (Hebrews 5:12).

One of the principal tools for spiritual growth is the WORD OF GOD – THE BIBLE!
1 Peter 2:2  KJV
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
Hebrews 5:13-14  KJV
For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Personally, i have and still continue to benefit tremendously from the insights and revelation of the Word that God has given men and women over the years. I’ve experienced spiritual growth from what i’ve learnt from them; that is the purpose of the five ministry gifts (Ephesians 4:11-16).
However, Jesus does not expect us to stay children and feed off solely on the revelation He’s given to other people. He wants to reveal Himself in and through us (John 14:21,23,26). That way, we can bless others and carry out Jesus’ command to us to MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS (Matthew 28:19-20).
There is this joy associated with having the Word of God revealed to you personally by the Holy Ghost, and then seeing the truth of the Word confirmed by writings or teachings of departed or living saints of the Kingdom of God, or by life experiences. It is best experienced than written 🙂

I pray Word Snippets helps in your spiritual growth, and pushes you to dig deeper into the scriptures in Jesus name, amen.

God bless you 🙂 x
