“And He appointed twelve to continue to be with Him, and that He might send them out to preach [as apostles or special messengers] and to have authority and power to heal the sick and to drive out demons.” Mark 3:14-15 AMP

Jesus had a lot of followers, yet spent a great time in prayer before selecting the twelve (Mark 1:35; Luke 6:12-13).  He primarily choose them to be with Him (see verse above), before working for Him.

That’s the primary reason He calls us to Himself too: to first be with Him, and then do whatever work He might have us do. It is possible to do many works for Jesus without Him knowing us, as Jesus Himself said in Matthew 7:21-23.

Spending time with Jesus allows us to be conformed to His image (Romans 8:29) and is discernible, as was said of Peter and John:

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.” Acts 4:13 KJV

One way to be with Jesus is to spend time in His Word – the Bible:

And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18 AMP

MAKE YOUR WORD TIME A PRIORITY!

God bless you 😀
