“But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins…” Mark 2:10a KJV

Jesus made this remark in response to religious people accusing Him of blasphemy. As far as they were concerned, only God could forgive sins (Mark 2:1-12). Either they didn’t realise, or plain didn’t want to accept that JESUS fit this job description; HE IS GOD! (John 1:1-5)

Our key verse shows the geographical limit to where forgiveness of sins could take place – EARTH! Once anyone dies (their spirit leaves their body), there is no more forgiveness of sins; where they spend eternity would depend on the choice they made either to accept or reject Jesus, whilst on earth.

Know anyone amongst your family, friends, neighbours, colleagues etc who have not accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour?

Here’s what I suggest you do:

  1. Set some time aside.
  2. Read and meditate on John 16:7-11 and 2 Corinthians 4:3-4.
  3. Pray – ask God to open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel, for the conviction of the Holy Spirit to come upon them and make them realise their need for Jesus and to show you the best way to approach them.
  4. Follow what you believe God has shown you.
  5.  Invite them to Meet Jesus and come along with you to Church tomorrow.

Don’t give up or be disheartened if they decline; keep praying for them, believing God to open their hearts to receive the Gospel and realise their need for Jesus.

P.S: In 2015, whilst living elsewhere, we (myself and a friend from Church) went out to talk to people about Jesus. We got into a place where young men make football bets, handed out some tracts and shared our faith with those interested. One of the men took it upon himself to debate with us, against Christianity. We talked, shared our views (got heated at times) for about half an hour and we left. Seemed then like it was a stalemate – we couldn’t convince him about Jesus (it was not our job anyway) and he couldn’t convince us to accept his stand (which was kinda agnostic if I remember correctly). We prayed for him together once at Church, and on our own separately.

Fast forward over a year later, i was back at this city for the holidays (2016). On Christmas Day at Church, someone walked up to me and tried introducing himself; I recognised him before he was done. He came to say THANK YOU! He is in Christ now, and appreciated us sharing the Gospel with him. I was at loss as to how to react then, when I recalled our experience with him 😆. I shared this with my Church friend who was so thrilled and remarked, God gave me this Christmas gift!

We can’t limit God, or figure the exact method He’ll use draw the lost to Himself. Let’s just avail ourselves for His use, and keep sowing the seeds of the Gospel to unbelievers within our sphere of influence and He’ll draw them to Himself. NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE WITH GOD! 🙌

God bless you 😀
