“Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.” Philippians 4:6 AMP
One last post on what to do instead of worry; be sure to check the first, second, and third posts leading up to this one:
3. PRAY WITH THANKSGIVING
Prayer provides the opportunity to go right before the Creator of the Universe, the One totally in love with His children and has gone lengths to prove that (by sending Jesus to die on the cross for our sins), the One who has the power to turn every impossibility around and make it look like nothing. Yes, Him!
Talk to Him and tell Him you’re handing over your worries to Him (let Him have ALL of it); He doesn’t bite, and has been waiting on you to do that all the while 🙂
“Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for your affectionately and cares about you watchfully. 1 Peter 5:7 AMP
Thanksgiving i believe, is the universal Christian response to all circumstances:
“Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 AMP
When we give thanks, we choose to acknowledge the truth of God’s nature [faithfulness- 2 Timothy 2:13], than the temporal ‘reality’ of our circumstances. See, our problems don’t last forever, they’ll go, but God stays the same [Hebrews 13:8; Malachi 3:6a]. Shouldn’t we rather stick with God [who is a firm foundation], rather than dwell on our problems, which would go away? Firm/faulty foundation parallels. And yes, problems do go away, even if they feel like they’re there forever at-times.
I saw this somewhere and it blessed me; i paraphrase: ‘No matter what you’re going through, remember you’re GOING THROUGH! ‘
So, choose to have faith, seek first God’s kingdom and pray with thanksgiving, instead of worry whenever you’re tempted to ; your spirit [true self] would be glad! 🙂
God bless you 🙂
