May grace (God’s favor) and peace (which is perfect well-being, all necessary good, all spiritual prosperity, and freedom from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts) be multiplied to you in [the full, personal, precise, and correct] knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
2 Peter 1:2 AMP

Our Scripture text shows us there is a correlation between knowing God and increasing in grace and peace. Looking at the peace part briefly today.

The Greek word translated peace here means “the harmonized relationships between God and man, accomplished through the gospel.” Vine’s Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words. It occurs in all New Testament books except 1 John.

Your being at peace with God is obviously of prime importance to Him, that He sent Jesus to die on the cross to make it possible (Ephesians 2:17) and just for reminder’s sake, inspired the human channels through which the books of the new testament were written, to note it down. THAT. IS. LOVE! ❤

What is the implication for me, you might say?

It means that if you are saved (if you aren’t, meet Jesus), you have been put in a position where you can have a harmonious relationship with God, which gets deeper as you know Him increasingly. Healthy relationships take time to build, as the individuals involved get to know each other’s likes, peeves etc. Similarly, being saved doesn’t automatically guarantee that you are in total harmony (agreement) with God yet. However, you have an opportunity to, because now you can access His Holy Spirit who would reveal Jesus in the Word to you, because the Bible is the primary channel through which we can know God (John 14:17, 26; 16:13).

If you lack peace or find you’re becoming increasingly agitated lately, I suggest you spend more time in God’s Word. I vividly remember a wise counsel i was given nearly a decade ago, when i was going through much; i still value that advice and remember it literally: “Spend time in the Word of God and your peace would increase!” It works! 🙂

God bless you 🙂
